Registration for first stage of International Olympiad NSE's - 2019-20 begins on August 1, 2019 and Enrolment of students from August 21 to September 15, 2019.

National Standard Examinations conducted by IAPT in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Junior Science is the first step for the worldwide Olympiad.

National Standard Examinations (NSEs)

National Standard Exam in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Junior Science and Physics constitute the first stage of the Programme.
Every student aspiring for successive stages of the programme in the International Olympiads in 2020. Must enroll for the NSEs in the respective subjects to be held in 2019.

Eligibility for NSE/and Subsequent Stages:
Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Physics:
1. Must be eligible to hold an Indian passport. *
    1a. As per the orders of the Madras High Court, OCI students will NOT be eligible for selection in the Indian team. However, such students will be further eligible for selection at all prior stages, up to and including the OCSC (stage III). They will also be eligible to write the selection tests at the OCSC.

2. Date of birth between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2005, both days inclusive.
3. Must be residing and studying in India since 30 November 2017 or earlier.
    OR
Must be studying in an Indian school system since 30 November 2017 or earlier.

4. Must not have passed (or scheduled to complete) class 12 board exam earlier than 30 November 2019.
5. Must not have commenced (or planning to commence) studies in a university or equivalent institution by 1 June 2020.
6. Must not be appearing in NSEJS 2019.

Enrollment for NSE :
Enrolment at student's own school/college: A student can enrol at his own institution if it is a registered centre. The principal would be the contact person for this purpose.
Enrolment at a different school/college: If a student's own institution is not a registered NSE centre. Then it is still possible to participate in NSE by enrolling at a nearby centre. The list of registered centres will be available on the IAPT website: www.iapt.org.in by 21 August 2019.

All students enrolling from states other than the state of their School. Are required to send the scanned copy of admit card & school ID by email to iapt.nse@gmail.com on or before 15 December 2019.

NSE centre registration: Any state recognized school/college is eligible to become a NSE centre with a minimum enrolment of 20 students. Online NSE centre registration on the IAPT website will be between 1 August and 20 August, 2019.

Indian performance in International Science Olympiads

Indian students have excelled at all the International science Olympiads ever since it started in 1998. Almost every student has won a gold, silver, bronze medal or an honourable mention. Over the years several Indian students have also won special awards for best performances.
