Outstanding performance by RESOnites in IESO stage 1 result
Resonance PCCP students once again showed remarkable achievement in International
Earth Science Olympiad IESO stage 1 result, declared on 15 February’2018.
The Managing Director Mr. R.K Verma told that, the
diligent efforts of students & the faculty members of Resonance have resulted
into 9 selections out of the total 31 selections
all over India. In the previous years they selected top 20 students
from India but in this year the no. of selections increased to 31.
The details of selected students are as under : 4
students Anshul Choudhary, Teesta Solanki,
Vaibhav Khater & Utkarsh Agarwal are from Udaipur
study center, 2 students Shrikar Tamirisa &
Ritika Dhakar are from Vadodara Study center,
1 student Tejas Kumar is from Jaipur,
1 student Arpit Arya is from Jabalpur
study center & 1 student Akshat Rajani is from Kota study Center
respectively.
Resonance has been producing marvelous performance every year in prestigious IESO
Exam since 2011.
IESO Stage 1 Examination i.e. National level Entrance Test
was conducted by the Geological Society of India on 21 January,2018
for the students of classes 9 to 11. Top 31 students got selection for the Training
Camp. Cut off of the examination is 59.
The Geological Society of India is the body responsible for
selecting the Indian Team for the International Earth Science Olympiad. So far,
the Earth Science Olympiad program in the country involved four stages: (i) National
level Entrance Test, (ii) Training Camp culminating in the Indian National Earth
Science Olympiad, (iii) Pre-departure training camp and (iv) International Earth
Science Olympiad. The Earth Science Olympiad (ESO) is conducted by the ESO Cell
at the Geological Society of India constituted by the President, Geological Society
of India. The IESO is supported by the Ministry of Earth Science (MoES), Government
of India as one of its outreach programme for promotion of Earth Science. The Training
Camp will be made for the selected students for about 25 days
duration, will be conducted at a university/research institution usually in May/June
under the supervision of a Camp Co-ordinator. After the training camp the top four
students will be selected to represent the country at the IESO shall each be awarded
a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- and Training participation certificate
will be given to all students.
They will undergo another round of training i.e Pre-Departure Training at the Geological
Society of India, Bangalore or another designated place before their departure for
IESO. The Team Leaders and Observers who will accompany the selected students and
some resource persons will guide and counsel the students besides clarifying doubts
and engaging in academic discussions. The schedule of the Pre-Departure Camp will
be intimated well in advance.
And finally Participation in International Earth Science Olympiad. The top 4 Selected
students will represent India at International level. International Earth Science
Olympiad (IESO) 2018 will take place in Thailand, in the month
of September 18.
