Counseling Procedure for IIT-JEE 2011

Counseling for JEE -2011 Qualified Students: The counseling is online for all JEE-2011 qualified candidates desirous of joining the IITs/ ISM-Dhanbad/ IT-BHU, Varanasi, irrespective of the Category/ Subcategory they belong to

The online counseling procedure comprises four steps, namely:
(1) Registration on JEE Counseling Online Portal (JCOP) website
(2) Payment of counseling fees
(3) Submission of photocopies of documents to the zonal IITs, and
(4) Choice filling.

1)ONLINE REGISTRATION:
The candidate needs to register at the JEE Counseling Online Portal (JCOP) http://www.jee.iitk.ac.in/JCOP using the “Register Here” link and filling the required details as given in the JEE-2011 admit card along with a password. At the completion of this procedure the website shall automatically create a User-ID. The User- ID and Password should be noted down carefully, kept confidential and used for the remaining steps. Detailed instructions for this step are provided in the “Registration Procedure” document available for download in the “Help” tab in JCOP.

2)PAYMENT OF COUNSELING FEES
A non-refundable counseling fee of Rs. 1000/- needs to be paid by all candidates. The counseling fee can be paid only after registration either using credit card/ debit card/ ATM card (only those with Visa or Master Card Logo) or the National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT), excluding NEFT charges in bank, if any. Detailed instructions for this step are provided in the “Payment Guidelines” document available for download in the “Help” tab in JCOP. Candidates are advised to go through these guidelines and terms and conditions for online payments carefully before proceeding for payment. The candidate can fill and lock his/her choices only after payment of the counseling fee.

3) DOCUMENTS TO BE SENT TO ZONAL IITS
All candidates must send the following documents through SPEED POST so as to reach the JEE chairman of the Zonal IIT (the IIT from which the candidate received the Admit card) on or before 17:00 hrs on June 10, 2011.

  • Duly filled application form for admission: The application form must be filled completely along with a recent color photograph pasted on it. The application form for admission may also be downloaded from the JCOP site by following “documents” tab.

  • Medical Examination Report: The medical examination report form may be downloaded from the JCOP site by following “documents” tab.The form must be filled and signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner.

  • Duly attested photocopy of mark sheet and certificate of passing the qualifying examination. Candidates whose qualifying examination result is awaited shall be admitted provisionally. All such candidates must send a duly signed “undertaking”. The undertaking form may be downloaded from the JCOP site by following “documents” tab.

  • Caste Certificate: In addition to these documents, the candidates belonging to OBC (NCL), SC, ST categories or DS subcategory must provide a duly attested photocopy of the respective category/sub-category certificate issued by the competent authority.

4) ONLINE CHOICE FILLING
After registration and payment of counseling fee, the candidate needs to login to the JCOP (http://www.jee.iitk.ac.in/JCOP) using the User-ID, password and the JEE-2011 registration number printed on the JEE-2011 admit card. On this webpage the candidate enters the choices of courses in the order of his/her preference.

ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN APTITUDE TEST


Candidates desirous of joining the B.Des. and B.Arch. courses will be required to qualify in Architecture/Design Aptitude Test. The test will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee). The test will be of three hours duration, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. The cut-off for this test will be decided based on the average mark and the standard deviation. Such candidates must have their JEE-2011 admit Card with them to appear in the Aptitude Test. Candidates who fail to qualify in this Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to B.Des. or B.Arch. courses

COUNSELING FOR PREPARATORY COURSE


All the fifteen IITs, ISM Dhanbad and IT-BHU, Varanasi are running preparatory courses for SC, ST and PD candidates for one year duration. After successful completion of this course these candidates will be eligible for admission to appropriate courses in the institute where they are undergoing the course in the next academic year (2012-13) against the vacancies of 2011. All candidates who have become eligible for a preparatory course through JEE-2011 must report at their zonal IIT (the IIT from which they received their admit cards) on July 18, 2011 for giving their choices of institutes. They should carry the JEE-2011 admit card with them. The preparatory candidates under the PD subcategory should appear before a duly constituted Special Medical Board which will certify the degree of physical handicap, as well as their fitness to undergo the course of study in which admission is sought. Thus, they may have to visit any one of these IITs: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, or IIT Madras between June 8-10, 2011.
